LG Problems, Explained

What tends to go wrong on each LG appliance line, and what the fix normally involves.

LG washer OE code (not draining)

The single most-searched LG washer problem. OE means the washer couldn’t pump the water out in time. On front-loaders the pump filter behind the small door at the bottom collects coins, hairpins and lint; a full filter or a kinked drain hose causes most OE codes. If the filter is clean and it still won’t drain, the pump has failed.

Usual fix: Clean the pump filter and drain hose; replace the drain pump if the code returns.

LG refrigerator not cooling

LG refrigerators report fan and defrost problems as Er codes, but many just warm up quietly. The common pattern is frost on the evaporator from a defrost fault, or a failed evaporator or condenser fan. Linear-compressor failures do happen on some model years; if the compressor is the problem we’ll tell you before you spend money on anything else.

Usual fix: Defrost heater or sensor, fan motor, or control board. Compressor and sealed-system work is quoted separately and honestly.

LG dryer not heating or showing d80/d90

LG dryers measure airflow and will display d80, d90 or d95 when the vent is 80–95% blocked. No heat on gas models is usually the igniter or gas valve coils; on electric models the heating element or thermal fuse.

Usual fix: Vent cleaning for the d-codes; igniter/coils or element/fuse for no heat.

LG dishwasher not draining or not cleaning

LG dishwashers show OE for drain faults and run poorly when the filter and spray arms are clogged. A leak sets the AE code and the dishwasher stops until the base is dry.

Usual fix: Filter and drain-path cleaning, drain pump, or leak repair.

LG washer LE and UE codes

LE is a motor code: the direct-drive motor couldn’t turn, usually from a hall sensor fault, a jammed drum or heavy load. UE is balance; if it appears on every load, the shocks or suspension are worn.

Usual fix: Hall sensor or motor for LE; shocks or suspension for persistent UE.

Is Your LG Still Under Warranty?

  • Check the purchase date: most manufacturer warranties cover parts and labor for one year, with longer coverage on sealed systems, motors or drums for some models.
  • Find the model and serial number on the appliance label; the manufacturer’s site or support line can confirm what is still covered.
  • If it’s covered, contact the manufacturer first. An independent repair can’t be billed to the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Out of warranty, or covered but you’d rather not wait: call us and we’ll quote the repair upfront.
