What tends to go wrong on each Kenmore appliance line, and what the fix normally involves.
Kenmore 110-series top-loaders are Whirlpool direct-drive machines: the motor coupler and lid switch are the classic failures. 796-series front-loaders are LG and report OE (drain) and UE (balance) codes. 417-series front-loaders are Frigidaire and show E20 for a clogged drain.
Usual fix: Motor coupler or lid switch (110), drain pump filter or pump (796, 417).
Most Kenmore dryers are Whirlpool-built: the thermal fuse blows when the vent restricts airflow, then the heating element or gas igniter. LG-built Kenmore Elite dryers show d80/d90 for a blocked vent.
Usual fix: Thermal fuse and a vent check; element or igniter; vent cleaning for d-codes.
106-series fridges are Whirlpool and share its ice maker and defrost designs; 795-series are LG and show Er FF, Er rF and Er dH fan and defrost codes. Both warm up when the evaporator frosts over.
Usual fix: Defrost heater or sensor, fan motor, or ice maker assembly.
665-series dishwashers are Whirlpool-built. Standing water is the drain pump, check valve or chopper; a flashing clean light is a fault code, most often the heating element.

Because Kenmore used mainstream manufacturers, parts for most models are still available under the maker’s part number even when the Kenmore number is discontinued. We look up the cross-reference before we quote.
Usual fix: The same part under the Whirlpool, LG or Frigidaire number.
